Is mother’s ruin back? Artisan distillers cooking up a gin revival

Small Irish distillers are cashing in on rising gin sales, with a new wave of “craft” products including Dingle Original and Shortcross finding favour with drinkers at home and abroad.

The value of the global gin market rose by almost six per cent last year to just under €4.7 billion, with premium brands such as Hendrick’s helping to make ‘mother’s ruin’ fashionable among younger drinkers.
