Irish Water to take water from the Shannon to supply Dublin

Irish Water has confirmed plans to store water from the River Shannon in a reservoir in Tipperary to supply Dublin and the Midlands.
The state body published a report that identifies a new source of drinking water supply for the Eastern and Midland Region. Over 40 per cent of Ireland's population lives in this region and work has been on-going for 8 years to identify a new and sustainable water source.
