Irish stores to escape Tesco’s British deli cuts

Tesco announced it would close its hot food counters in Britain, affecting 2,100 jobs, but Ireland will not be impacted

Tesco Ireland has confirmed that it will not be impacted by plans the supermarket giant has to close all of its delicatessen operations across Britain.

A spokeswoman for Tesco Ireland confirmed to the Business Post that the move solely affects British stores, with no impact on delis in Ireland.

The counters will close at British stores from February 26, although many had already shut down since 2019.
