Irish inflation drops for third month in a row, but remains a ‘huge burden’

Consumer prices rose by more than 8 per cent in the year to December, with households still under pressure

Irish inflation fell for the third month in a row during December, new statistics show.

However, consumer experts have said it is still at an extremely high level and causing major hardships for households.

According to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office, the consumer price index rose by 8.2 per cent in the 12 months to December 2022.
