Remote work

Irish households 5.6km on average from nearest remote working hub

CSO noted that there were major disparities in distance when comparing urban and rural homes

More than eight in 10 homes in the state are within 10km away from a remote work hub, according to the CSO

Irish homes are on average 5.6km away from the nearest remote working hub and 1.6km away from a childcare service, according to the Central Statistics Office.

However, residences in urban areas such as Cork and Dublin cities tend to be better served and closer to childcare and remote work, while those living in rural areas such as Leitrim and Donegal have to travel up to twice as far on average to reach the same services.
