Irish Cement (ICL) has launched legal proceedings challenging an order for the compulsory purchase of lands it owns by the harbour at Foynes in Co Limerick.

Last March, An Bord Pleanála granted Shannon Foynes Port Company a compulsory purchase order (CPO) over 88 acres of ICL land identified as strategic to the long-term growth of the harbour’s facilities.
