Ireland successfully sold €750 million of bonds at auction this morning with five-year bonds sold ata negative yield for the first time, effectively meaning investors are paying to lend to Ireland.

The National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA) said it sold €500 million of five-year bonds due 2022 and €250 million of bonds due 2045. The five-year bonds were sold at a negative yield of 0.009 per cent, meaning investors will not receive interest ...
