Insurance firms are ‘screwing’ businesses, says hotel manager

Clonakilty Park Hotel general manager David Henry said the hiking of its insurance premium from €62,000 last year to a proposed premium of €108,000 this year was totally unjustified

The manager of a popular family hotel has warned that businesses are being “screwed” as it faces an increase of almost 75 per cent in its insurance bill.

The Clonakilty Park Hotel has also been unable to secure insurance to operate its bouncy castle for children. And it is facing the prospect of not getting cover for its €250,000 high ropes adventure centre, which is putting the jobs of five staff at risk.
