Inflation rises back up to 8% in February

Energy prices in Ireland fell by 0.2 per cent in February bringing the annual rate of energy inflation to just over 29 per cent

Eurostat, the EU agency, is due to publish an estimate for inflation across the eurozone on Thursday.

Inflation in the Irish economy went back up to 8 per cent last month, up from 7.5 per cent in January, according to a flash estimate released on Wednesday by the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

Ireland has become the latest European economy to record an increase in inflation after France and Spain both recorded rises this week, fueling fears over when the European Central Bank will stop raising interest rates.
