Businessman Denis O'Brien has denied he brought a legal action over comments made in the Dáil to punish deputies Catherine Murphy and Pearse Doherty.

Under cross-examination, O'Brien was asked by Maurice Collins, who is acting for the attorney general, whether the purpose of this action was to punish the deputies by way of condemnation from the court - and also to make sure that similar utterances would not occur again.
