The government should implement a “ vigorous compliance policy” on employment rights for companies that are awarded state contracts, according to the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU).

New lobbying filings show that ICTU’s industrial officer Liam Berney recently wrote to Paul Quinn, the government’s chief procurement officer, “to advocate that publicly funded projects should be intensively monitored for employment rights compliance”.
