Irish citizen had been held in prison for four years after arrest during Cairo protests

Irish citizen Ibrahim Halawa has been acquitted of all charges by a court in the Egyptian capital in Cairo.

The 21-year-old has spent four years in prison after being arrest in 2013 during protests against the then president Mohammed Morsi.

His three sisters, Somaia, Fatima and Omaima, who were also arrested in 2013, were later released on bail and returned to Dublin. The three, who were tried in absentia, were also acquitted.
