Vodafone Ireland announced it is to begin a phased programme of upgrades to its entire 3G internet service later this year. The existing 3G network will be upgraded to a 4G and 5G service as part of a nationwide network modernisation programme. Reliance on 3G has reduced to the point where only approximately 6 per cent of data is used on the older 3G network, the company said.
