In November, with the Revenue Commissioners circling his business over unpaid taxes, Peter Conlon swore an affidavit claiming he was on the cusp of landing a massive investment that would save his ailing tech company.

The imminent deal was a last-gasp attempt by the Leitrim-born serial entrepreneur to seek bankruptcy protection for Ammado, which facilitated online donations to charities.

The petition failed.

The money never arrived.
