HSE acts after probe of hospital contracts

Health officials make six recommendations after Saolta audit found no “evidence of competitive tendering process”

The HSE has made six major recommendations for Ireland’s hospital groups after carrying out an internal audit into how a private company won a contract to install patient safety and care quality software in state hospitals in the west and northwest.

The software contract, worth over €300,000 between August 2012 and November 2014, was awarded to Northgate Public Services to manage the treatment of thousands of patients in the Saolta University Health Care Group.
