Hold out for pay increase before you retire to boost your pension, teachers’ union says

The advice is being given at pre-retirement courses run by the Teachers’ Union of Ireland

TUI’s president, Seamus Lahart

Irish teachers approaching retirement are being told to hold off until September 2 so their pensions will reflect a 1.75 per cent pay rise.

The advice is being given at pre-retirement courses run by the Teachers’ Union of Ireland (TUI), which has been advising teachers that if they wait until after part of their pay restoration kicks in on September 2 they will get the benefit of their higher salary in their pensions.
