Mixed signals from Leaving Cert maths figures

Business group IBEC has broadly welcomed the trends emerging from this year’s Leaving Certificate results, but said more needs to be done to improve languageand technology skills.

20 per cent of all maths candidates achieved a C grade or better in higher level maths. IBEC's senior education and innovation policy executive Claire McGee said this was a significant improvement from under 13 per cent five years ago.
