Health budget: McGrath pledges extra Covid-19 funding for HSE
Minister for Public Expenditure said the health budget was “always challenging” but had “greater complexity” this year due to the impact of the pandemic
Michael McGrath, the Minister for Public Expenditure, has pledged to provide the HSE with additional Covid-19 funding to cover the massive over-run in this year’s health budget.
It comes after the Business Post reported that Stephen Donnelly, the Minister for Health, was scrambling to fill what could be a €2 billion hole in the health budget to avoid a substantial bailout being required before the end of the year.
