Harland and Wolff’s new boss to apply Oz turnaround lessons

The head of InfraStrata, the British-based company that is to buy the troubled Belfast shipyard in a £6 million deal, is confident he can reverse its fortunes

For the past two months a banner hung from a Portakabin at the entrance to Harland and Wolff in East Belfast imploring someone – anyone – to save the famous old shipyard from extinction.

Last week it got an update. Yellow paint was daubed on the banner, changing ‘save’ to ‘saved’ and a new word was scribbled on top.

Now it hangs proudly, declaring victory: “We Saved Our Shipyard”.
