Countless schemes to repurpose the old ferry terminal at Dún Laoghaire have come and gone. The Harbour Innovation Campus, a €20 million tech hub, looked like the one that would stick - until last month, when one of its two central investors pulled out. What happened?

It was only a year ago that the wraps were being taken off the project that was supposed to finally provide a second life for the husk of the old Stena ferry terminal at Dún Laoghaire. The cancellation of the ferry service, which had run in some incarnation since 1835, was a cardiac arrest for the industrial centre of the affluent suburb.
