Grocers fail to sell online food shopping to Irish consumers

Paltry supermarket web presence doesn't deliver as consumers stay loyal to aisles

Online food shopping in Ireland is massively under-developed and accounts for a minuscule one per cent of the grocery market.

That's according to the PwC Total Retail 2017 survey of consumer behaviours and expectations.

The report shows huge growth opportunity in digital revenues, given that 27 per cent of those surveyed hadn't visited any grocery retail websites in the past year despite all being declared online shoppers..
