Donohoe to vote against AIB bonus plan

The finance minister is to set up a review of government restrictions on pay in the banking sector, which were put in place after the bail-out of the financial system in 2008

Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe has confirmed earlier reports that he will vote againsta resolution to be put before AIB shareholders at its shareholder meeting next week.

Restrictions on bankers’ pay were put in place after the bail-out of the financial system in 2008. These limit total pay at AIB, Bank of Ireland and Permanent TSB – excluding standard pension contributions – to €500,000 and ban bonuses.
