Security expert says situation an ‘open secret’ in European capitals
An Garda Síochána is excessively dependent on Britain for much of its security intelligence, a British-based expert has warned.
Dr Edward Burke, Director of the Centre for Conflict, Security and Terrorism in Nottingham, says Ireland has a limited capability, among gardaí, the Defence Forces and the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) to monitor international criminals, particularly jihadi activity, by Irish citizens or residents.
