Garda strike could leave top officials without their drivers

The state’s leading officials may be left without their garda drivers if next month’s planned strike action by An Garda Síochána goes ahead.

The ministerial fleet was civilianised in 2011, with only a core number of garda drivers retained on security grounds to provide services for the Taoiseach, Tánaiste, Minister for Justice, President, Director of Public Prosecution and Chief Justice.
