Former Ticketmaster chief: Ticket reselling controversy overblown by social media

In a submission to the Department of Enterprise regarding legislation which proposes banning reselling in certain circumstances, Tommy Higgins claimed the issue was 'not significant', and accounted for less than 1 per cent of the whole market

An erstwhile boss of Ticketmaster has said that ticket reselling is far less of a problem than the controversy around it suggests. Tommy Higgins, who was managing director of Ticketmaster Ireland & UK and vice-president of Ticketmaster Europe from 2004, described the furore around reselling as “a social media conspiracy theory”.
