Feargal Purcell worked as the former taoiseach’s top press adviser for six years

A former senior adviser to Enda Kenny has been exempted from a one-year ‘cooling-off’ period that applies to public officials who become lobbyists.

Feargal Purcell, who worked as the former taoiseach’s top press adviser for six years, joined PR firm Edelman Ireland last week. He had been working as interim government press secretary for Kenny’s successor Leo Varadkar until the end of October.
