Foreign funds in talks to take over southern toll routes

A group of international investment funds are in talks to acquire the companies that operate two toll roads in Cork and Limerick.

The British venture capital giant 3i, along with a number of other European funds including an offshoot of investment giant Aberdeen, are preparing to take over the concessions to operate the M8 Rathmichael-Fermoy bypass and the M7 Southern Ring Road.
