First price drop for electricity customers in two years as Pinergy announces cut

The move could put pressure on other companies to make similar reductions, as wholesale energy prices have been steadily falling

Pinergy has become the first energy provider to drop its prices in more than two years.

The firm will reduce its standard unit rate by almost 9 per cent from March 31st.

Bonkers.ie, the price comparison website, said in a statement that this will result in savings of around €183 per year, or roughly 7 per cent of an annual bill, for the average Pinergy customer.
