Fáilte Ireland warns of ‘increase’ in hotels hiking prices around concerts and matches

The state body said the move could damage the image of the industry with international tourists

Fáilte Ireland is writing to hotels, hostels and B&Bs, warning them of the damage sudden price spikes can do to the industry’s long-term reputation.

In his opening statement to a sitting of the Oireachtas tourism committee today, Paul Kelly, the chief executive of the state tourism body, said part of the reason the cost of accommodation has been pushed up in recent months is because of the Ukrainian refugee crisis.
