One of the most immediate challenges posed by Brexit to the Irish economy has come fromthe dramatic weakening in the value of sterling since last June’s referendum.
This was illustrated by yesterday’s news ofa slump in the number of British visitors to Ireland, as the weaker British currency makes Ireland a more expensive destination. The fall in sterling is also worrying exporters, particularly in the food and drink sector, withsigns already that currency movements are having an effect.
