European Commission could challenge loans made by state bodies
The Master of the High Court, Edmund Honohan has said loan sales from state-controlled financial institutions could be open to a state aid challenge in the future.
Mr Justice Honohan, who was speaking on the Reboot Republic podcast, said the tests the European Commission (EC) uses to determine whether a body is a state body, or whether a body is giving state aid, is “not as clear cut as [junior finance] Minister [Patrick] O’Donovan thinks”....
