Motorsport in Ireland could be effectively shut down as a result of a European court judgment which would make its events uninsurable, an MEP has warned.

A European Court of Justice (ECJ) ruling from 2014, known as the Vnuk judgment, requires all EU member states to make unlimited third party motor insurance compulsory for all vehicles, wherever they are used. The ruling is due to come into effect in October.
