Three companies have announced plans to create around 200 new jobs across the country.

Telecoms company Eir says itsroll-out of high-speed fibre broadband across Ireland will result in 100 new jobs in a variety of roles including poling crews, cabling technicians and fibre splicers.

KN Network Services (KNNS), a supplier to Eir, will recruit the staff and expects to fill the majority of these roles in the next three months. Eir says the jobs will be based throughout the country.

Eir has recruited 50 apprentices this year to work on the broadband programme and says it will be announcing a further recruitment drive for apprentice and engineering roles in the coming months. KNNS employs 1,500 people in Ireland.

Irish engineering design company Biopharma Engineering also announced 70 new jobs over the next three years in Dublin and Cork to support its growth. The Cork-based company currently employs 80 people and has doubled its workforce over the last 18 months.

Separately, Canadian shopping search engine Yroo is to expand its Irish base by adding 33 jobs over the next three years.

Yroo is expanding in Dublin in order to support customers in more than 35 countries where the company currently transacts across North and South America, Europe, and Asia.

The Irish office will be responsible for management and international sales, as well as business development, marketing, software development and customer support.

Yroo was introduced to Ireland throughConnectIreland, which was set up with the aim of using connections to attract foreign companies that are expanding internationally to Ireland. The initiative was established as part of the Government's Action Plan for Jobs, in association with IDA Ireland.

Yroo has more than 10 million users and says it is currently growing at an average of 15,000 new registered users per day.
