Easter egg sales are set to top ten million in ‘recession-resilient’ sector

Ireland’s chocolatiers are gearing up for one of the busiest weeks of the year, with around ten million chocolate eggs expected to be consumed here over the Easter period.

The Irish chocolate market is estimated to be worth around €593

million a year and is becoming more varied, with chocolatiers of every

size and scale now operating here.

Figures from Bord Bia show that the sector should grow by about 2 per cent this year, helped by the recovering economy.
