€40 million bailout The bill to fix Knock Airport
Airport capital funding plan sent to the European Commission to check state-aid rules compliance
A state bailout package of almost €40 million is needed to save Knock Airport, according to a new report.
The privately-owned airport is currently hampered by crippling debt and also needs a long-term investment package to upgrade its runway and passenger facilities.
With the general election approaching, Taoiseach Enda Kenny is under huge local pressure to secure the Mayo airport’s long-term future.
