Dublin Council’s insurance bill nearly doubles

Dublin City Council has seen its annual insurance bill rise from around €10 million per year to almost €20 million due to a switch of provider.

It used to largely ‘self insure’ against compensation claims up to the value of €500,000, but it switched two years ago to a mutual insurance company which is owned by the country’s councils.
