Disillusioned teachers deserting ASTI union to avoid pay losses

ASTI membership has dropped from around 18,000 to 17,500

Hundreds of disillusioned ASTI teachers have joined a rival union to avoid suffering crippling pay losses.

The ASTI had around 18,000 members at its peak but, according to its own figures, it had 17,650 members last month. This has now fallen further to 17,500.
