Judge rules that courts' role in such cases 'extremely restricted'
The High Court has ruled that statements made in the Dáil are immune from court interference or judicial condemnation.
The ruling came ina case taken by businessman Denis O’Brien, who argued that statements made in the Dáil by Social Democrat TD Catherine Murphy and Sinn Féin’s Pearse Doherty influenced a case he was taking against RTÉ.
The businessman had been trying to stop RTÉ from broadcasting details of his banking affairs.
