Delayed Adoption Bill ‘long overdue’, says former chief justice

Former chief justice Ronan Keane has weighed into the debate on the delayed Adoption Bill, describing the proposed legislation as “long overdue in this country”.

The retired judge, who presided over a controversial Supreme Court ruling on adoption information in the 1990s, said similar legislation has existed in England for decades and has not, to the best of his knowledge, “caused any major problems”.
