Commissioner contacts Google and Apple after furore over voice-activated device recordings

The Irish data watchdog is seeking information from Apple and Google amid concerns that their voice activated devices are recording sensitive audio of people without their knowledge.

The Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (DPC) wrote to Apple last Friday following media reports that recordings made when its watches and home devices are accidentally triggered are being reviewed by human staff.
