Data commissioner probes US media giant’s Irish arm

Data watchdog conducting statutory inquiry into Oath Emea’s compliance with GDPR

Giant American communications firm Verizon Media, which owns brands such as AOL, Yahoo, and the Huffington Post, has put €190 million into its Irish arm, which is currently being investigated again by Ireland’s Data Protection Commissioner.

Verizon Media EMEA channels all of the sales and invoices for Verizon Media’s internet search and advertisement business, which covers its operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, according to recently filed Companies Office documents.
