Data breach at Bank of Ireland

Data breach arose “following an error by a third party supplier providing HR services to the bank”

Bank of Ireland made a notification to the Data Protection Commissioner last week after another accidental release of sensitive staff information.

The Sunday Business Post has learned that an Excel spreadsheet containing job evaluations for dozens of employees in the bank’s branch network - including names, locations, and pay scales of staff from branch manager level to cashiers - was published in error and searchable by people outside of the organisation.
