The operator of Dublin Airport was warned in May of “obvious gaps” in its hygiene maintenance systems as a result of the outsourcing of cleaning services at terminal one.

The Business Post has learned that Siptu, the union, wrote to the airport in the weeks before the now-infamous May Bank Holiday weekend complaining that in-house cleaning staff were being told to take on jobs which had previously been contracted to third-party staff.
