The energy crisis triggered by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is not a “one-winter deal”, the head of BP, the British oil and gas giant, has warned.

Speaking at an event in Dublin on Monday evening, Bernard Looney, the Irishman who serves as chief executive of BP, said the current crisis is likely to “be with us for some time” and warned that “painful” actions may need to be taken by European governments.
