Markets will have to wait at least another month before learning how the European Central Bank plans to wind downits programme of extraordinary measures aimed at reviving inflation in the euro zone economy.

Thursday's meeting of the bank's Governing Council was overshadowed by recent volatility on the currency markets.

A stronger euro has a dampening effect on prices, as it reduces the cost of imported goods and services. It also affects European exporters.
