Second booster vaccines extended to people aged 18 to 49

Covid-19 cases have increased to 3,809, compared to 3,118 the previous week, with 737 people in hospital with Covid-19

Until now only certain cohorts under 50, including frontline healthcare workers and people with underlying conditions, were eligible for a second booster.

Second Covid-19 boosters are to be offered to people aged 18-49, the Health Service Executive announced on Thursday, amid a sharp rise in the number of infections, flu and other illnesses across the country.

The HSE said that people in this cohort are being invited to make an appointment on its website from today, once it is six months since their last vaccine dose or since they have had a Covid-19 infection.
