A global index ranking press freedom worldwide has flagged “concerns” over the funding of RTÉ, claiming that decisive government action was needed.

It follows a tumultuous period for the national broadcaster which has recently appointed a new managing director whose main function will be securing the future funding of the national broadcaster.

The World Press Freedom Index ranks the level of press freedom in 180 countries and territories.
