The Minister for Children, Katherine Zappone, will push for a compensation scheme for those who were sent to mother and baby homes.

The options for government would include a compensation scheme like that in place for victims of residential abuse, which resulted in average payouts of €62,000, or a fund to pay for housing, education and health services for survivors.
