Chinese ban on Irish beef dropped after two years

The suspension was introduced in 2020 after a case of Mad Cow Disease was recorded

Irish beef exports to China are set to resume after a two year ban, the government has announced.

Beef shipments to China were suspended after a case of atypical BSE, commonly known as Mad Cow Disease, was confirmed in May 2020.

The government said the Department of Agriculture detected the problem at the time. However, beef exports were immediately suspended as a precaution in line with trading arrangements with China.
