Canadian investor takes 3.5% stake in Hostelworld

Prem Watsa, the investor known as “the Canadian Warren Buffett”, has taken a stake of almost 3.5 per cent in Hostelworld, the Irish hostel-booking company.

Stock exchange filings show that the Hamblin Watsa Investment Counsel, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited, of which Watsa is the chairman and chief executive, bought just over four million shares in the company, at a total cost of around £4 million.
